Lance is an actor in the star system inspired by mobsters as they were portrayed in popular cartoons of the early 20th century. He's just as gritty and rough whether he's on-set or off-set.
Personality

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Lance is one mean SOB. You'd be forgiven, because you'd be right. Lance doesn't particularly like people, whether they're working with him or just random folk on the street. He's known for having a very offputting presence, and it's often a wonder how he got into acting at all.

Interestingly, Lance comes from old money. While it's unclear how his forefathers made their fortune (and frequently suspected to be through illegal and immoral dealings), it's well known in and out of the industry. Lance was cut off sometime in his twenties, though the reason behind that is also quite unclear. He flitted around off his family's name alone for a time, but eventually settled into acting after being asked to play a bit part as a mobster in a B-movie production. Whether he actually liked it, or just saw the potential for making his fortune back, is similarly unclear. Either way, he makes for a surprisingly good actor.

While he's often typecast as a mobster, Lance isn't a stranger to more compassionate roles. He's played as the main love interest in at least one production to surprising success. Apparently, people like the look of a big guy like him secretly being a sweetheart. Too bad he's really not.

Lance is most often seen alongside Hammond and Dandelion, both on and off-set. He's usually quiet, but makes a point to fight with Dandelion whenever possible.

Relationships

Cabriole Dandelion
It's pretty common for people to assume that Lance and Dandelion hate each other. In a sense, they do. Dandelion is energetic and outgoing, while Lance tends to be quiet and broody. The two butt heads almost constantly, though some of their colleagues have written it off as a kind of foreplay for them. That theory is made all the more plausible by Hammond, who frequently gets between the two, and is known to have on-and-off relationships with them both.
Hammond Grosvenor
Hammond and Lance don't spend much time in the public eye, but have been known to get drinks together. The two have an on-again off-again thing, as far as their colleagues understand. Hammond is known to hide behind Lance at public events, which Lance doesn't seem to mind. He's been seen patting Hammond on the shoulder occasionally, which is about the most affectionate anyone has ever seen him off-set.

Inspirations

^^^ Osamu Tezuka's Acetylene Lamp
I don't know if I even have to say it. Chandler! Really?
^^^ The Generic Mobster
Lance is, and I'll say this often, "built like a brick shithouse." Not unlike those extremely-square parodies of mobsters seen in 80s and 90s cartoons. Specifically, I want his visage to harken back to characters like Rocky from Looney Toons, or the mobster who rips out of the skin of a caveman in the music video for Do the Evolution by Pearl Jam.
^^^ Sir Crocodile
Particularly in the scar that goes over Lance's cheek and eye, and his often cocky, self-assured nature. His size, too, is very much inspired by Crocodiles's massive tits profound chest and straight-backed stance.
